If you want to learn, or improve your game, one of the things to do is read books and learn from the pro's. I have rated some books which I think are one of the best on the market.

These are only books about
Texas Hold'em.

You can also check out our rules page and strategies for learning
how to play.

  Phil Gordon's
"Little Green
Book"

category:
General

£9.09

buy from amazon.com
This is one of my favorite books of all time. Anyone, whether you
are a beginning or advanced player, will benefit from reading this book. Before reading this book I suggest you already know the
basics and rules of Texas Hold'em. Phil Gordon's green book is very easy to read and understand (not too mathematical) and helped me to understand how I could learn from my mistakes and become a better overall poker player. Learn when to fold, raise, re-raise and from what position.  Even calculating odds is easy using Phil's described method.

Collin Moshman
"Sit 'n Go Strategy"

category:
Sit and Go's

£8.00

buy from amazon.com
Sit 'n Go Strategy is the best book available for single table Sit and Go's. Before reading this book my results in sit and go's were poor to average, balancing around break-even point with my "earnings". Since I've read this book and applied the strategies and knowledge provided by Collin Moshman I became a winning Sit 'n Go player, making money quite easily. There are many examples of hands and how they should be played at what stages. For beginning players this one might be a bit difficult to read, first learn the basics and practice with friends
or
online.

Dan Harrington
"Harrington on
Hold 'em"

category:
Tournaments

£11.39

buy from amazon.com
This is one of the most popular Hold'em books on the market. It's particularly helpful if you want to play live or online tournaments.
Many people regard this book as an "investment" instead of a purchase, and I agree. This book is well written and easy to read.
Dan describes different playing styles, pre flop and post flop play, continuation bets and all other skills needed to become a great
poker player. An excellent piece of work!

Dan Harrington
"Harrington on
Cash Games"

category:
Cash (ring) games

£13.56

buy from amazon.com
If you like ring (cash) games don't look any further, this is the book
for you, written by the famous Dan Harrington. Because ring game strategy is very different from sit and go's and tournaments I was a
bit worried at first that this book wasn't going to deliver the quality we've seen in the "Harrington on Hold'em" collection. Luckily I was wrong, reading this book will certainly improve your cash game.
Every principle is covered, how to play against big stacks, short stacks, which hands to play and from what position.

Michael Craig
"Full Tilt Poker Strategy Guide"

category:
Tournaments

£13.79

buy from amazon.com
At first I thought this was just some cheap marketing trick to sell an average poker book, using the "Full Tilt Poker" label to attract buyers.
I didn't expect this book to be very helpful, but it turned out to be one of the best books available. Reading this book gives you insight
in how the best poker players on this planet think and play (Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer, Ted Forrest etc). It has really helped to improve my tournament play. There are also some new concepts covered I didn't find in any other books.

  Tom McEvoy & Shane Smith
"Beat Texas
Hold'em"

category:
General

£1.61

buy from amazon.com
If you are a beginner without any (or little) experience this is the
book to get. It's easy to read and teaches you the principles and basics of Texas Hold'em. A good read before sitting down with your friends, or at one of the
online poker rooms. I have read this book when I already had some experience playing Texas Hold'em. Though it's a book for beginners I must say it still provided me with some useful tips and good advice. It surprised me that such a cheap book
is that well written, and has so many sections covered.
